Mobile phones and the Health.Care Graph

Mobile phones are the ubiquitous gadgets, they maybe the latest fads, fads or not, depending on whether the glass is half full or half empty view of yours and mine. Mobile phones are touted to be everything, be all and end all of the multi-connected, multi-centered today. Tomorrow is a different ball game.

But as of today, where do health.care issues stand vis-a-vis near immersive, ever encompassing technology, mobile phones being the ultimate remainder to touch us, bring near to us the, pervasive nature of technology.

And what’ the shape of the curve of our health.care graph?

What is a health vs technology graph? At this point in space.time, I am not sure how to relate that to human vs technology graph either. Mobile phones bringing a twist to the related problems and the solutions. There’ no denying that, as can be seen, the umpteen ways technology is helping our lives. But, on the other hand, technology is also opening up a new era of health related problems. The mobile phone radiation & cancer link is quite familiar and openly supported and purported, again depending on which side you are on? Some recent new links here, & here. More can be found with Google search links.

It is less than a decade that mobiles have pervasively entered our lives and from the medical point of view, we do not know what we are getting into or how it’ going to pan out. It’ a pandora’ box ( the same argument can be applied to pharmacuetical-s and medicine, yes I agree, that’ a different debate not looked into here ).

The other side of the coin presents an about- ( think the About button in the Help application menu ) of the mobiles providing health monitoring and health tracking services, which are definitely applicable, and beneficial to certain segments of the people. Environmental and hygiene matters are related and there are umpteen press releases from companies about how green the company is based on certain factors.

But what’ the answer in practice or from research point of view to dispel the myths , or to propel the eden garden-esque, as applicable, towards the relation between technology and health concerns themselves? A new front analogous to the above discussion would soon present itself.

Hope you agree.
